Confused
Ok I downloaded this app and I like what it is trying to achieve but I dont know how to use it or what everything means. It needs a help button to explain what each setting/set of settings means and what tests etc. are (like bio aid has). I cant properly judge/rate this app without even knowing how to use it.
A useful solution
I once tried some demo high end hearing aids. Their ridiculous $8K cost and the questionable marketing practices turned me off and I refused to buy into that. It did give me the opportunity to go through the process of adapting to new sounds. It takes getting used to. Walking on gravel seems deafening at first. Putting down a glass is loud. There are a lot more birds than I thought. Your own voice seems weird. In time, it is normal and I hated to give them back. The Aud1 app has this same learning curve. Play with the settings, get used to it and soon you will be hearing as well as is possible short of the big bucks approach. Watching TV (the listening part) is a lot more enjoyable now. Wearing ear buds and talking to people seems rude, but people accept the explanation and people are used to iToy rudeness anyway. This is a good and actually useful app and I recommend it. BTW, I couldn’t find a mic that fits the 5s port. I thought that might improve the experience. You can’t use mics that access the headphone jack and use earphones at the same time. I gave it five stars because I think this is about as good as this sort of technology can be, dependent on existing earbuds, the phone’s mic and its sound processing capability. There could be more tiny adjustments perhaps, but 99% of users wouldn’t be able to hear the difference. Perhaps some sort of on-line hearing test would help people to adjust? The future we may see better bluetooth tech and hidden earbuds and such that will blur the line between an app and real hidden hearing aids. That will be very interesting. The hearing aid dispensing industry will put up a mighty fight!
Disappointed
GUI is pure geek and it doesnt work . The reset controls dont reset anything. The slider controls dont slide.I suppose the website is great for electrical engineers but for the rest of us it makes no sense at all
Tinny
So far a complete waste of money. No directions on how to us the app. Latency test, could not get it to work (What volume control?). Watching TV, audio lags the input, very annoying. Audio is very tinny, again very annoying. I am using LG 730 Bluetooth headset.
